At least four missiles were fired into Kurram Agency area from across the Afghan border on Sunday, political administration said. Two rockets, each fell into the Shangak and Kharplan areas destroyed a shop completely. There were, however, no loss of life in the incident, officials said in a statement.
A spokesperson for the local administration said the attack which left locals panicked did not cause any loss of life. However, one missile struck a shop in the Shangak area, another landed near a mosque, and two others in a graveyard at Kachkina, he said.
The spokesperson claimed the missiles were fired from Afghanistan's Paktia province.
Kurram is one of the most sensitive tribal areas as it borders three Afghan provinces and at one point was one of the key routes for militant movement across the border.
Last month, a suspected missile-firing US drone killed two Afghan Taliban militants in a village near the Afghan border. The missile struck the two men while they were riding a motorcycle in north-western Kurram.
On February 19, fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force bombed a number of terrorists who were trying to regroup in the North Waziristan Agency.
