Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has expressed grave concern over the unannounced and excessive loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which brought the socio-economic activities to a complete halt.
He regretted that the prime minister's claims of ending loadshedding in 2018 would not be beneficial for the KPK unless the whole system of distribution and transmission was overhauled. He called for an end to loadshedding in KP. He said this while addressing a public meeting at village Shakoor Tehsil Tangi.
Earlier he inaugurated various uplift schemes. Senior Minister and provincial Chairmain Qaumi Watan Party Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
Aftab Sherpao said that KP was producer of cheap hydel electricity through its resources but it had not been benefited to utilise the same for its welfare. He said unannounced and long hour loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa is badly affecting the socio-economic activities of KP people. He said that the KP had not been provided the benefits of CPEC which also included the electricity facilities.
He said that Federal cabinet's decision on the merger of FATA was not sufficient as it had doubted sincerity of the federal government towards Pukhtoons. He termed the measures for the merger FATA-KP as cosmetic and non-serious ones. He said that concerted steps were strongly needed to enable the institutions for the rapid work in this regard.
QWP chief said that the tribal people had been victims of terrorism and backwardness which badly affected their socio-economic conditions. He regretted that the tribal people had no representation in the provincial assembly and local bodies. He vowed that QWP would leave no stone unturned for the rights of Tribal people.
QWP chairman deplored that Pakhtuns had rendered untold human and material sacrifices, in war against terror, however; they had not been provided any relief which aggravated their sense of deprivation.
He said that NAP should be truly enforced and should be made dynamic and proactive documents to serve the needs of the country. He called upon the Federal government to discard step-motherly approach towards Pukhtoons and remove their grievance.
Sherpao pinned that the reopening of border was a good omen it should be utilised as first step to further solidify the relations between two neighbours. He suggested step by step measures to normalise the strained relations.
He contended that step should be adopted for the normalisation of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
