Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures closed up 1-1/2 cents Tuesday at $4.22-1/2 on short-covering, analysts said. K.C. hard red winter wheat settled up 3 cents to $4.19-1/2, while MGEX May spring wheat closed up 10-1/2 cents to $5.39-1/4. Rising crop expectations in the United States limited the gains in wheat. The US Department of Agriculture on Monday afternoon said the winter wheat crop was rated 54 percent good to excellent, up from 53 percent last week and in line with market expectations.
