Former president and PPPP president Asif Ali Zardari has expressed his party's resolve to conquer Punjab, a stronghold of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Addressing a public gathering in Jhang on Friday, Asif Zardari said that PPP was defeated in the last general elections through ROs (Returning Officers). "We will wipe out the politics of Sharifs from Punjab," he claimed.
"The way we ousted former dictator Pervez Musharraf from power, we will do the same with Nawaz Sharif," he added. He said all four provinces want to get rid of Sharifs. "This is my first public meeting in Punjab and this is just the beginning," said Zardari. The former president said there is no electricity in the country, while the country's foreign debt has doubled.
"We will live and die for the people of this country. Whether Nawaz Sharif goes to Madina or Landhi Jail, I will be the one who will send him meals," he added. He said that the party will continue its struggle till Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif leaves office. "If this is all what had to be done in Panamagate case, then why so much time was wasted," he remarked, asking "what have the Sharifs given to the people of Pakistan? They neither give electricity nor water, but during their time the debt of the country has doubled. All the four provinces want relief from you", he said.
He said that even after raising the coffins of Benazir Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto; the party raised the slogan of 'Pakistan Khappay'. Earlier, Zardari welcomed the former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid's leader Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat's decision of rejoining the PPP. Addressing the rally, the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari criticised the Supreme Court's verdict in the Panama Papers case and said that the apex court's decision proved that there is one law for Sharifs and another for the masses.
He said that no law applies to the Sharif family. "What can the nation expect from the Joint Investigation Team that comprises officers appointed by them (the ruling party)," he said. The PPP chairman said that the apex court's verdict did not allow the PM to go scot-free, adding that the two judges of the bench in the dissenting notes went against the PM. "The premier should immediately resign," Bilawal added.
