The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in collaboration with the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bahawalpur (WCCIB), organised a workshop on "Women Business Need Assessment." According to SMEDA's spokesman, the workshop was aimed at designing the need-based products and services for women entrepreneurs besides getting feedback from them to ascertain their business needs. A number of women entrepreneurs attended the workshop that was also addressed by Chamber's President Shireen Arshad.
She said the entrepreneurship is the only way of economic empowerment of women in Pakistan and urged the participants to transform their capabilities into business propositions so as to become economically powerful. She also asked the business women to avail the services of SMEDA and other government organizations for setting up new businesses.
Deputy General Manager, Women Entrepreneurship Development, Tania Buttar, said that SMEDA Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell (WEDC) had been working for development, promotion, up-gradation and uplifting of women entrepreneurs. She also briefed about the outreach activities and facilitation available with SMEDA for women entrepreneurs and advised the business-women to come out of the traditional businesses and work in new avenues. She assured of the fullest cooperation of her organization for imparting the latest business trends and modern marketing techniques to the new women entrepreneurs.
