The local tiles manufacturers will increase market share by 12 percent, if the government continues Anti-Dumping Duty (ADD) on Chinese tiles imports, said top official of the Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics. Speaking to an event organised at a recreational club, here, CEO Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics Masood Jafferi that the market share of local and imported tiles was almost equal (50-50) and the government has now imposed ADD provisionally on Chinese tiles imports in order to protect local tiles industry.
He said that if the ADD remained unchanged on Chinese tiles imports, then local tiles manufacturers would be able to increase market share of local tiles by 12 percent in coming years. He said that the local tiles manufacturers would also pour more investments which would help improve quality and standard of local tiles.
"The growth rate of tiles industry is roaming around nine percent on year-on-year basis and CPEC project is a lucrative opportunity for the industry," he said. Having made a total investment of Rs 1.2 billion in production and manufacturing in the past 6 months, Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics Limited is committed to providing quality products to the end consumer.
Jafferi said that Stile's latest Italian technology under the supervision of the company's Italian production team launched diverse range of designs and promises durability, low maintenance and high resistance to wear & tear. "The construction market in Pakistan is expanding at a rapid pace with heavy investments being made in the form of various residential and commercial projects," he said, expressing confidence that with the extensive design range that they are offering, their modern Italian designs in collaboration with 'Arte & Grafica,' Italy will be the preferred choice for architects, interior designers, builders and of course, their customers who are looking to design extraordinary homes.
The current demand-supply gap which exists in the market for tiles needs to be fulfilled by local producers while focusing on quality, design and variety. Having foreseen this issue Stile has constantly been striving to meet the needs of its customers by focusing on their requirements, Jafferi said. GM Sales & Marketing Aamir Saghir and others were also present on the occasion.
