'President's salary increased to Rs 1.6 million'

This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "President's salary increased to Rs 1.6m" carried by the newspaper yesterday. According to it, the government has increased salary of the President from Rs 1 million to Rs 1.6 million in the federal budget for fiscal year 2017-18 with an increase in total budget for Presidency from Rs 941,886,000 in 2016-17 to Rs 959,693,000 for 2017-18.
It also added: "Maintenance of gardens of the Presidency cost the nation Rs 34,900,000 in 2016-17 and Rs 41,325,000 have been allocated for it in the budget for 2017-18." Doesn't this news item constitute a sardonic comment on our way of governance?
