Heatwave subsides after scattered rain

The week-long scorching heat wave subsided after scattered rain in parts of Punjab, KPK, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir Tuesday night dropping the maximum highest temperature by 10 to 15 degree Celsius on Wednesday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said dust-thunderstorm/rain with gusty winds occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala,
Faisalabad, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat divisions, Islamabad, and Kashmir while at isolated places in Bahawalpur, Lahore, Hazara divisions & Gilgit-Baltistan. Weather remained very hot and dry in other parts of the country. It recorded (mm) rainfall as under: Islamabad (Saidpur 41mm, Bokra 13mm, Z.P 10mm), Jhelum 20, M.B.Din 15, Mangla 11, Chakwal 10, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 07, Shamsabad 04), Sialkot (A/P 07, city 04), T.T. Singh 07, Gujranwala 05, Bahawalnagar 02, Jhang, Gujrat 01, KPK: Cherat 24, Saidu Sharif 06, Kohat, Lower Dir 05, Pattan 03, Malamjabba 02, Balakot, Kalam 01, Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta 08, Muzaffarabad 05, Rawalakot 03, Kotli 02, GB: Astore 09, Bunji 02.
Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Lahore divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country.
Sibbi 50°C, Lasbella 49°C, Turbat, Pasni, Dadu 48°C, Ormara, Jiwani 47°C, Jacobabad, Larkana, Moenjodaro 46°C. Met office said "today's record temperature of 48°C was observed in Pasni and 47°C in Ormara. Earlier recorded in Pasni was 47°C and Ormara was 44.1°C on 19th May, 2002 each.
