In response to a news appeared in a part of print media on 3rd June 2017, regarding the allegation of corruption in establishment of Bilawal Medical College at LUMHS Jamshoro, the management of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences has taken a serious notice as the said allegations are totally false/baseless and are deliberately aimed/planned to defame the prestigious Institution.
Regarding Bilawal Medical College, it is for the information of public in general and media in particular that the University announced to establish this College two years back with the intention to overcome the shortage of male doctors in the province so that the rural areas can be provided with qualified health professionals, as at present 70 per cent female students are admitted to the Medical Colleges every year, and the female doctors are not ready to serve in the rural areas.
As it was the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to ensure best possible health facilities in the rural areas of the country, therefore with the intention to fulfil her dream the establishment of Bilawal Medical College was announced to produce more male doctors.
The infrastructure of Bilawal Medical College is ready and the desired faculty required for the approval from Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has been appointed, and the University is in constant contact with the PMDC and hopefully the College will be approved within next couple of months and 100 admissions of the first batch for the course of MBBS shall be announced this year. The Management of Liaquat University strongly condemned the attempt of tarnishing the image and integrity of one of the most reputable institute of the country.
