LHC moved against Ahmadpur East incident

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued notices for July 6 in a petition seeking investigation and fixing responsibility of the Ahmadpur East incident. The petitioner also prayed to call the record of burn units in public hospitals of Punjab. The petitioner said the tragedy was a result of the local administration negligence. He said had the highways and local police taken action timely, this tragedy could have been avoided. He also submitted that rise in death toll was due to non-availability of burn units at the government hospitals. He said the fire incidents in Punjab had increased but the public hospitals were not equipped with burn units and trained staff.
He therefore prayed the court to direct the government to take safety measures against any untoward incident in future.
