WAPDA to introduce new technologies for electricity transmission line
HARIPUR: Federal Minister for Water and Power Omer Ayub Monday said Wapda is introducing new technology for electricity transmission and eradication of power pilferage.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Omer Ayub Khan while talking to media here said that the government would not let anybody to use electricity through illegal means and will not spare anybody above the law.
He said the new technology would make the direct hooks (Kunda) ineffective and reduced line losses, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan in every cabinet meeting directs to put minimum burden on the masses.
The PML-N government increased electricity tariff and also suggested new tariff to NEPRA which caused surge in electricity prices he said. The PTI government is avoiding to follow that tariff and increase the minimum price he disclosed.
Referring to electricity theft the minister said that it will not be allowed and bring the culprits would be brought to justice.
He also warned the defaulter of the WAPDA and said the connections electricity defaulters would also be removed.
The minister stated that previous government did not bring any change in the electricity transmission system causing huge line losses.
“We would bring revolutionary changes in transmission system and would introduce new technologies to overcome line losses.” While criticizing PML-N government Omer Ayub Khan said that they have allowed subsidized rates for farmers till general elections 2018 but we are providing electricity to all farmers on subsidized rates.
