The Karachi Port handled 368,750 tonnes of cargo comprising 311,980 tonnes of import cargo and 56,770 tonnes of export cargo including 6,491 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 311,980 tonnes comprised of 84,441 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,557 tonnes of general cargo; 93,472 tonnes of bulk cargo: 38,670 tonnes of coal; 2,216 tonnes of soyabean meal; 35,011 tonnes of fertilizer; 3,317 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 6,808 tonnes of iron & steel scrap and 132,490 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 56,770 tonnes comprised of 41,347 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,109 tonnes of general cargo; 11,314 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,491 containers comprising of 2,798 containers import and 3,693 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,163 of 20's and 797 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 15 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 475 of 20's and 209 of 40's loaded containers while 678 of 20's and 1,061 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were eight ships namely CMA CGM Verdi, Al Abdali, Songa Calabria, MOL Endowment, MT Shalamar, Zeynep-A, Miike and BBC Amber carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Songa Calabria, KEA, Hyundai Global, Kota Lahir, Glorious, MT Quetta, Jupiter Ace, Miike and Greener carrying containers, oil tankers, palm expeller and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Hyundai Global, Pyxis Malou and Greener carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely MT Quetta carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were three vessels viz. Piraeus, Oriental Protea and Mariwu carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while seven vessels viz. Northern Dependent, X-Press Makalu, Tirua, OOCL America, Prosper, Superior and Chang Hang Cang Hai carrying containers and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 69,062 tonnes comprising 12,158 tonnes of import cargo and 56,904 tonnes of export cargo including 2,270 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 12,158 tonnes includes 6,800 tonnes of canola seeds and 5,358 tonnes of chemical.
The total export cargo of 56,904 tonnes includes 43,130 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,774 tonnes of crude oil. There were two ships namely CV Hermes and MV SC Neptune carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely MT Marlin Ametrine carrying crude oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels viz. CV Hermes, CV Mykonos, MV Pacific Trust, MV Golden Catharine, MV SC Neptune and MT Marlin Ametrine currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, canola seeds, chemical and crude oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as fourteen ships namely MV Star Planet, MV Leto, MV Bhairvi, MV Diya-B, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Torm Valborg, MT Sea Mater-IV, MT Brizo, MT BW Yang Tze, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Al Dasma, MT Genie, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Analipsi Lady carrying soyabean, chemical, cement, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Prosper, MV Bhairvi and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There were five ships namely CV CMA CGM Puget, CV Prosper, CV Malta, CV Mataquito and MV My Miranda carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely CV UASC Al-Khor and CV Maersk Denver carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
