Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the government wanted to flee from the recommendations of the Sartaj Aziz Committee on FATA reforms but the people of the tribal areas as also of the other parts of the country won't allow that. He was talking to a delegation of FATA Students Forum in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Sirajul Haq said that the tyrannical FCR was not acceptable to the tribal people as it violated basic human rights. Because of the FCR, the tribal areas were cut off from the rest of the country. Sirajul Haq said that the entire national leadership had agreed to the recommendations of the Sartaj Aziz committee yet the government was trying to put its report into the cold storage.
He said that due to the FCR, around 15 million people of tribal areas were deprived of basic civic rights besides education and health facilities. It was due to this oppressive law that the life, property and honour of the tribes were not secure and the whole tribe and even the entire area were punished for the crime of an individual. The JI chief said that the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had termed the tribal people as the sword arm of the country and had said that because of the tribal people, the country did not need to have armed forces in the tribal area. However, he said, that the tribal people were now being forced to live like slaves and there was deep sense of deprivation among them..
