Qaumi Watan Party's Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan said on Friday that apex court verdict on the Panama case was a historical judgment and all people should accept it that this had changed the political course of history and the political process should continue for democracy flourishing. He was addressing a press conference during a party joining ceremony at Watan Kor Peshawar, wherein three important political figures from different political parties Arshad Khan, Saeed Ullah (ANP) and Zakir Ullah Shinwari (PTI) along with scores of supporters and family members announced to join Qaumi Watan Party.
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said it was hoped that there would be no political confrontation on the post-Panama judgment. He said the new Prime Minister would be elected and the assembly would complete its tenure. Sherpao said QWP was the staunch supporter of democracy and it longed for completion of the constitutional tenure of the parliament. He contended that the strengthening of democratic institutions would be instrumental in political stability and financial prosperity. The QWP chief regretted that the longstanding issues of Pakhtuns had been put on back burner that increased their sense of deprivation.
He said issues such as power loadshedding, merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due share of KP in the CPEC, rehabilitation of displaced people had been ignored. He expressed concern over the fresh terrorist attacks in the country, saying Pakistan had already suffered heavily in the war on terror.
Sherpao demanded that proactive and concrete measures should be adopted to arrest the grim situation. He impressed upon the leadership to address the problems of Pakhtuns. "We have and will raise our voice and concern over the FATA merger and FATA reform implementation and asked the federal government to fulfill what you have promised to our people in the FATA reform speech," Khan said.
Aftab Sherpao expressed concern over the excessive loadshedding in KP and said that despite the largest producer of hydro-electric power generation the province had been deprived. He said that pushing back Pakhtoons and back tracking them showed that it was only teasing Pakhtoons. He has impressed upon Islamabad and Kabul to weed out the differences and extend mutual cooperation for the larger interests of both countries that "we believe in sovereign, unified and friendly Afghanistan" and appose all steps to divide and destabilize Afghanistan. The federal government should start taking sincere measures for developing diplomatic relations with Afghanistan, he added. He welcomed new entrants' decision to join QWP terming it a timely and wise step and said QWP had emerged as the lone voice for the rights of the oppressed strata that's why the people mostly relieved on it. QWP Provincial Chairman and Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Provencial Minister for Labor & Mineral Development and other part senior leaders were also present on this occasion.
