After the historic verdict announced by Supreme Court against the sitting prime minister, supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) took to the streets to protest in Multan. They wore black armbands and burnt tyres at Chowk Kutchehry disrupting traffic. The protests, which remained peaceful, were held at the residence of Sultana Shaheen MPA. Meanwhile, traffic wardens and Multan city police were deployed at important roundabouts and buildings to maintain flow of traffic and protect the property in case of any untoward incident.
Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) organised three functions in the city where workers were dancing on drum beat and sweets were distributed among the people. A scuffle broke out between PML-N and the PTI workers at Chowk Kutchehry and other places on Friday after PTI workers chanted slogans 'gone-Nawaz-gone'. They also exchanged hot words and abusive language while a baton wielded PML-N worker was witnesses attacking a supporter of PTI. Malik Aamer Dogar MNA appealed to the PTI workers to remain calm and not to involve themselves in scuffle. Bilal Butt, district president of PML-N said that PTI is not conducting politics in a respectable manner and added that PTI members are "narrow-minded and frustrated, just like their leader.
Pakistan People Party (PPP) also celebrated the disqualification of Mian Nawaz Sharif and its workers were seen dancing on drum beat and distributing sweets in front of Multan Press Club. Religious parties did not react on the Supreme Court verdict and their leaders said,"We are waiting for the instructions of high command. Sultana Shaheen, MPA of PML-N said that Imran Khan would also be disqualified because he failed to produce authentic documents before the apex court.
