Islamabad Municipal Corporation (IMC) has not yet removed banners put up in support of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on various Islamabad avenues/roads after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Panama Papers case. The banners with different messages and pictures of former Prime Minister are still displayed at Shahrah-e-Suherwardi and Constitution Avenue by Mayor of Islamabad who is also Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Ansar Aziz.
"Thank You Prime Minister", "Our Prime Minister is our pride" are two of the messages displayed in the banners; and include messages of support for his daughter Maryum as well as Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Banners previously displayed in front of Parliament House and Supreme Court have, however, been removed after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified. These banners were put up at Constitution Avenue, Shahrah-e-Suherwardi, other roads and outside Federal Judicial Academy after former Premier Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers case.
The IMC and CDA usually install banners at Constitution Avenue with welcoming messages for a visiting foreign dignitary. Director Municipal Administration (DMA) of IMC was not available for comments despite repeated attempts on his cell phone.
