More than 300 workers disappointed by the verdict of Supreme Court staged a demonstration at Chowk Kutchehry on Saturday.
They were carrying placards inscribed with slogans in favour of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, "We don't accept court rulings", "Nawaz is our leader, and our blood is for him." Former ministers, members of National and Provincial Assembly and Chairmen of Union councils did not take interest in protest and they were confined to their homes. However, PTI workers were jubilant and organised rallies and celebrations in the city. More than 100 female activists and transgender organised a joint rally to express solidarity with Imran Khan to wage a crusade against corruption. Similarly PPP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Awami Muslim League, All Pakistan Muslim League(APML),and local nationalists Saraiki organisations celebrated the decision of the Supreme Court to disqualify Nawaz Sharif from holding public office in the Panama Papers case here on Saturday. They distributed sweets among workers and declared it the victory of law and justice against corruption.
The PTI workers chanted slogans against Nawaz Sharif and his corruption. PTI female workers were holding flags and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of Imran Khan and against Nawaz Sharif. PTI leader Qurban Fatima said the Supreme Court has proved that Nawaz Sharif is a thief. He appreciated Imran Khan saying that Imran never got back from the issue of Panama while all other political parties went away from their stance. Asif Mehmood Ikhwani, city chief of JI said that Sirajul Haq has presented himself and other elected leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami for accountability so all the political parties should throw their corrupt politicians out of the party.
