Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhary has criticized former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his sons for not appearing before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday. Addressing a press conference, he said the Sharif family's action has insulted the national institutions. "If they do not appear before the NAB then it will be assumed that they are guilty."
Fawad saw investigation of the Sharif family over Al-Azizia Steel Company as a positive development and believed that more references regarding Hill Metal and Gulf Steel Mills will come against them. "Accountability of the rich and influential people is a big step. The country's most powerful mafia is being held accountable," he added.
He further said that Nawaz Sharif has been in power for the last 20 years and still he is saying that the country is in problems. He accused Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, President National Bank Saeed Ahmed and former SECP Chairman Zafar Hijazi of running the largest money laundering network in South Asia. Through Dar, Rs 3 billion taken out of the country which belongs to the people of Pakistan, Fawad alleged.
"The biggest reference is yet to come against Hassan Nawaz for laundering money from his 13 companies to purchase flats in London," he added. He also criticized Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for acting as a 'puppet Prime Minister'. Referring to NA-120 by-election, he said the PML-N considers it an insult to ask for votes from people.
