The Punjab government on Monday ordered an action against illegal cattle markets set up in the provincial capital. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting to review arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha and cattle markets. While taking notice of the illegal markets, he said that the elements involved in setting up illegal markets should be arrested and legal action should be initiated against them.
"The Punjab government has established state-of-the-art cattle markets in Lahore and other cities of the province to facilitate the citizens. It is, therefore, imperative that the people coming for the purchase of animals in these markets should be provided all sorts of facilities," he added.
Meanwhile, talking about the cleanliness arrangements in the cattle markets, he said that it should continue on sustained basis and no compromise should be made on cleanliness arrangements. Similarly, he said, spray should be regularly carried out and devised plan for dealing with Congo and dengue virus should be implemented in letter and spirit. "The concerned provincial minister and the secretary should continue visits of cattle markets," he added. The meeting was also told that burning of heads and foots of sacrificial animals alongside the roads will be banned on Eid-ul-Azha and this ban would be strictly implemented at open places.
