Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended the government to increase petroleum prices for September. The OGRA recommended the government on Wednesday to increase the prices of motor gasoline (petrol) and high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 2.24 and Rs 0.70 per litre respectively for the month of September. It has further suggested increase in kerosene price by Rs 15 per litre and light diesel oil (LDO) price by Rs 12 per litre.
According to a working paper moved to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and Ministry of Finance, the OGRA has proposed the new ex-depot price of HSD at Rs 78.10 per litre instead of Rs 77.40 and that of petrol at Rs 71.80 instead of Rs 69.56. The regulator recommended an increase of Rs 13 per litre in the ex-depot price of kerosene to Rs 59 from Rs 44 and that of LDO by Rs 12 per litre to Rs 56 from Rs 44. Under the monthly price adjustment policy, on the last day of every month the Ministry of Finance, following the OGRA''s recommendation with the approval of the Finance Ministry announces new POL prices for the upcoming month.
