The Karachi Port handled 291,047 tonnes of cargo comprising 234,883 tonnes of import cargo and 56,164 tonnes of export cargo including 5,981 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 234,883 tonnes comprised of 116,530 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,255 tonnes of general cargo; 50,877 tonnes of bulk cargo: 45,590 tonnes of coal; 5,287 tonnes of iron & steel scrap and 54,221 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 56,164 tonnes comprised of 41,347 tonnes of containerised cargo; 717 tonnes of general cargo; 8,900 tonnes of iron powder and 5,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,981 containers comprising of 3,574 containers import and 2,407 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,125 of 20's and 1,170 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 306 of 20's and 310 of 40's loaded containers while 411 of 20's and 535 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were thirteen ships namely Najdiah, CMA CGM Puget, Hyundai Global, Libra, Kea, Express Black Sea, APL Hawaii, MT Quetta, Athina, MT Lahore, Dream Diamond, Trans Leader and Aramis carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicles and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were sixteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Puget, Hyundai Global, Libra, Express Black Sea, Cosco Durban, Piraeus, CMA CGM Tosca, OOCL America, Chem Wolverine, CSC Auspicious, Hafnia Africa, Almayros, Dream Diamond, Trans Leader, Donga A Glaucos and Shan Dong Hai Sheng carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, vehicles and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Cosco Durban, Kavo Platanos and Ru Yi Song carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Prosper and Piraeus carrying containers are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were six vessels viz. Northern Dependant, Prosper, Kota Kaya, MSC Tasmania, Pyxis and Balaban carrying containers, coal and DAP respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while six vessels viz. MOL Endowment, Sima Giselle, Bon Atlantico, MT Shalamar, Mandarin Fortune and Darya Ganga carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
A cargo volume of 115,908 tonnes comprising 101,696 tonnes of import cargo and 14,212 tonnes of export cargo including 3,708 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 101,696 tonnes includes 5,225 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,550 tonnes of palm oil; 19,190 tonnes of LNG; 12,959 tonnes of rape seeds, 1,532 tonnes of chemical and 56,240 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,212 tonnes includes 14,212 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,708 containers comprising of 2,960 containers import and 748 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were four ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Prosper, MT Maran Gas Asclepius and MT Maritime Suzzanne carrying containers, LNG and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely MT Wawasan Jade carrying palm oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Prosper, CV APL Columbus, MV Sea Joy, MT Maran Gas Asclepius, MT North Gas, MT Maritime Suzzanne and MT Wawasan Jade currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rape seeds, chemical, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen ships namely CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Heidi, MV MG Earth, MV Nireas, MV Tzoumaz, MV Jin Da, MV Sen Treasure, MV Star Mistral, MT Ever Rich-6, MT Stvanger Bliss, MT Lion-m, MT Fotini Lady, MT Lilac Victoria, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Glorious and MT Al-Dasma carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, steel coil, talcum powder, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Heidi, CV Northern Movement and MT Pavino Spirit carrying containers and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were ten ships namely CV Priority, CV APL Japan, CV Nicoline Maersk, CV Teno, CV Yuan Jing, CV Hansa America, CV Express Black Sea, MV Friendly Sea, MV Sophia-Z and MT Glose Seattle carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely MV Sen Treasure carrying steel coil due to arrive on Wednesday.
