Various religious, humanitarian and political organizations took out rallies on Friday to express solidarity with Rohingya Muslims and condemn silence of international community about the Burmese army's brutalities, mass killings and forced migration of Muslims from their country.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Senator Sirajul Haq has called upon the government to snap diplomatic ties with Myanmar in protest against the brutalities being perpetrated on the Rohingya Muslims. Addressing a big rally staged by the JI in Islamabad to arouse world conscience against the genocide of the Muslims in Myanmar, he also demanded that an emergency meeting of the OIC should be called for chalking out a line of action for the security of the Rohingya Muslims.
He said that the Burmese leaders responsible for the Muslims massacre should be tried in the International Court of Justice. He also suggested sending an official delegation to Myanmar and Bangladesh so that the brutalities on the Rohingyas would stop and they would accommodated in Bangladesh. Thousands of the people joined the rally taken out from Aab Para Chowk up to the Burmese embassy and raised slogans against the bloodshed in Burma.
Sirajul Haq said that the Muslims all over the world are like a single body and Allah enjoined the faithful to help their brethren in distress. Therefore, he said, the people of Pakistan could not remain silent on the bloodshed and the eviction the Burmese Muslims from their homes. He said the Burmese Muslims are being beheaded, hundreds had been burnt alive and their small children slaughtered.
Sirajul Haq pointed out that Pakistan and Burma had signed an agreement under which both the states were required to approach the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against any oppression on any minority. He said under this pact, Islamabad should move the world court against the Burmese government. He further said that if the ICJ could order direct bombing on Kosovo over the massacre in Rwanda and convict Rwandan generals, on that count, why cases could not be registered against the Burmese generals.
JI Chief further said that the main objective of the 45 Muslims States' Military Alliance was to wipe out terrorism. He asked the Muslim rulers as also General Raheel Sharif (retd) reason of silence of the Islamic Military Alliance over the terrorism in Burma.
The Shia Ulema Council took out a protest rally to condemn inhuman treatment of the Burmese Muslims and called upon the Muslim countries to withdraw their ambassadors from Myanmar and sever diplomatic relations with that country.
They also impressed upon the United Nations to take action against the Myanmar government which is violating UNO charter and failed to protect life and property of its citizens. They said that Muslims have been living in Burma for centuries; therefore no power can force them to leave their homeland.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) held protests in 114 cities including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Multan, Muzaffarabad and Peshawar and demanded a firm action from the government as Cabinet's condemnation was not enough. Under the direction of Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir Ul Qadri, PAT workers took out protest rallies in different districts, tehsil headquarters and towns including Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Multan, Peshawar, Khuzdar, Dera Ismail Khan, Muzaffarabad, Bhimber, Gilgit against persecution, mass killing, forced displacement of Rohingya Muslims by the Burmese Army and Budh extremists.
General Secretary PAT Khurram Nawaz Gandapur led the protest rally in Lahore. While addressing the participants, he said, "We strongly condemn reign of terror unleashed on Burmese Muslims. International community must break their silence; World Powers should take notice of sorrowful situation of Rohingya Muslims".
Gandapur said Dr Tahir Ul Qadri has rightly demanded United Nation to send international force in Burma because Burmese Government has failed to protect Rohingya Muslim Minority which has been living there since many centuries. The Burmese government is itself involved in terrorism against Rohingya Muslims. He said Burmese Government instead of protecting Muslim Minority, has joined hands with terrorist groups.
Burma's Ruling party chief Aung San Suu Kyi must return Noble peace award and resign. Allama Imdad Hussain Shah, Afzal Gujjar, Hafiz Ghulam Farid, Haji Farrukh, Ishtiaq Hanif, Amna Batool, Younus Nushad also addressed the rally. A large number of Punjab University teachers also took out a rally on Friday from Undergraduate Block to express solidarity with Rohingya Muslims and condemn silence of international community on the brutalities of the Burmese government.
