Occupation of joint property: elders of Afridi tribe for early resolution of issue
The elders of localities of Afridi tribe of Bara have blamed some influential people of Jani Khel tribe for forceful occupation of joint property located between Zulfiqar Garhi and Karigar Garhi and demanded of the political administration to implement its decision which announced after completion of the operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Haji Sher Badshah said that different sub-casts of Afridi tribe had joint property measuring about 196 kanals near Alam Godher area but some influential people led by Sarfraz and Gulab of Taji Khel tribe had occupied a portion illegally. Flanked by other elders including Niaz Akbar, Suleman, Haji Janas, Khan Said Khan, Nazeer Haji, Hunar Shah, Khalid Khan, Manzoor Khan, Mustaqeem, he said that the land had been occupied when the people of his area were living is camps as internally displaced persons.
The people of Jani Khel, he said had returned to their area earlier and thus taken advantage of the opportunity to capture the land property. "We have time and again requested the occupants to vacate the land but they are not ready to accept the decision of political administration of Khyber Agency," he complained.
He said that the administration had intervened to avert any possible clash over the property and warned the tribal people that in case anyone tried to forcefully occupy the joint property (disputed land) he would be fined Rs 5 million but the decision was not implemented so far. Besides, he said the political administration on its own had divided the land in 1992 and the administration had preserved the entire distribution record including the sketch which should be implemented to resolve the dispute.
