Daewoo branded battery project: Treet Corporation conducts corporate briefing programme
Treet Corporation Limited, a PSX listed company, conducted a corporate briefing program for its Daewoo branded battery project, being completed at Faisalabad Industrial Estate located on M-3 Motorway Industrial City.
In a press release issued here on Monday by the company, Ali Aslam, COO Battery Project, briefed the participating equity market analysts, local and foreign institutional investors and media representatives about the progress of the plant as well as its impact on revolutionizing the battery manufacturing industry in Pakistan. Amir Zia, Treet Group CFO, highlighted the potential impact of the battery project on the company's business as well as about the financing arrangements having been made by the company. The battery business shall be part of Treet's tax-efficient manufacturing vehicle-First Treet Manufacturing Modarba.
The plant's manufacturing facilities are almost complete, and the plant shall start the trial production from October onwards. Subsequent to the results of the trial production, the plant is expected to start regular production during the second half of the current financial year. The plant, a state of the art manufacturing facility spread over an area of 40 acres, is the result of PKR 6bn investment from Treet Corporation. Treet shall manufacture maintenance-free (MF) and deep-cycle batteries, under the brand name of Daewoo in Pakistan.
The MF and deep cycle batteries are easy to install, require no filling (in MF), and have longer operating life than the standard fillable batteries. Currently, all battery manufacturers in Pakistan produce conventional batteries, which require regular maintenance. Only 10% maintenance-free (MF)/sealed batteries are imported into Pakistan and locally, there is no manufacturer of MF batteries for automobiles or deep cycle batteries for the UPS today. Treet will be the first company to introduce MF and deep-cycle technology in the country, and hence would aim to enjoy the first mover advantage in the industry.
The manufacturing facility is fully OSHA compliant, and has achieved about 2.5million safe man hours so far. The plant is being completed under the supervision of the Korean experts, with supplies and materials from 26 manufacturers/suppliers from nine different countries, press release.-PR
