Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that peace in Afghanistan is must for regional stability and prosperity. World community should realize this fact that instability and lawlessness in Afghanistan not only disturb peace in the region but also badly affected our economy and infrastructure due to the huge influx of Afghan refugees.
He was talking to the Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan Martin Kobler at Chief Minister House, Peshawar. Administrative secretaries, high ups of planning & development and local government department were also present on the occasion. During the meeting, Khattak said that Pakistan rendered great sacrifices to protect the world from terrorism at a cost of human and financial loss. "It is a matter of great concern that the international community did not realize sacrifices of our nation, armed forces and other law enforcement agencies and we are being wrongly accused of promoting terrorism," said CM.
"Credit goes to the Pakistan armed forces who cleared the area on our side of Pak-Afghan border in short span of three years through successful operation and rinsed out the area from the terrorists and miscreants. But, it is also a fact that the US-led fully equipped coalition forces could not achieve any tangible success in Afghanistan in the last more than 16 years. Pakistan has always extended all out support to the world to bring lasting peace in our brotherly country Afghanistan and will continue to do so," said CM Pervez Khattak.
Chief Minister dispelled the impression that religious seminaries were used as a nursery to promote terrorism adding that these seminaries are spreading peace and promoting education to the most neglected and disadvantage segment of the society and in a way helping the government.
Pervez Khattak further informed the German envoy that reforms have been introduced in the religious seminaries and they too are imparting modern education enabling them to cope with the challenges of the modern world. The Chief Minister, while apprising the German Ambassador of reforms agenda of the present PTI-led coalition government said that we introduced reforms in each and every sector to ensure good governance, strengthening of institutions, better service delivery, transparency and elimination of corruption. Reforms in Police, health and education sector is on the top of agenda of our government. Police has been depoliticized due to which peace has restored. This can judged from the fact that foreign investors were taking keen interest to invest in KP province.
German Ambassador lauded the reforms agenda of KP government in various sectors and expressed his keen interest in investment in various sectors particularly in infrastructure development. Pervez Khattak hinted that he will soon convene a meeting of respective departments to pinpoint areas for mutual collaboration with German government for investment in various sectors.
