Rabi season: country likely to face 20-24 percent water shortage

The country is expected to face 20-24 percent water shortage during Rabi season (October-March) 2017 calculated on Monday at a meeting of the technical committee. However, the final figures of shortage in Rabi season will be finalised at a meeting of Irsa''s Advisory Committee to be held on September 29.
The technical committee meeting was attended by Director Operations (Irsa) Rana Khalid and attended by Directors Regulation Punjab and Sindh, Chief Engineer Balochistan and SE Headquarters KPK. The technical committee discussed three items ie approval of Rabi, water allocation for Kachhi canal for Rabi season and implementing of new rating table for Balochistan canals.
