Punjab Minister for Industry and Trade Sheikh Alauddin has claimed that the issue of unavailability of tomatoes in general market will be resolved in a few days. He said that the government of Punjab is trying to make sure that tomatoes should be available in the markets for the convenience of a common man and industry along with food department is engaged in the process.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the provincial minister said that tomato's production in Balochistan suffered a sudden loss because of some virus. The tomato crop is ready in Sindh and soon it will be available in the market of Punjab. The new crop of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be marketed in 20 days which will reduce the price of tomato, he hoped. Since the prices increased, the district governments are making efforts to carry out action against those who hold the stock.
