Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday said that PML-N's reelecting disqualified Premier Nawaz Sharif as party head is akin to the lunatics have taken over the asylum. Criticizing the reelection of Nawaz Sharif as party president following enactment of a controversial law, PTI chairman once again took to twitter and said, "When the corrupt are feted, it is a sign of Doomsday."
Khan ridiculed PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur for sending him Rs 10 million defamation notice, and said: "As ironic as it is absurd: Zardari and his sister Faryal suing me for defamation because spoke about their well-known corruption."
Separately, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry demanded immediate resignation of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for the economic instability in the country due to graft cases he is facing. "Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi should dwell upon country's economic plight rather than consuming energies on saving his disqualified leader and whole clan of looters," he told reporters outside Supreme Court.
He reiterated the demand of resignation from indicted Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stating that economy of the country is on the verge of collapse and attempts to increase political turbulence has negative impact on major economic players including stock markets. Commenting on the proceedings against Dar in the accountability court, he claimed that Dar will be behind bars within three months.
About cases against Secretary General PTI Jehangir Tareen, he expressed hope that SC will soon declare the case frivolous, adding Hanif Abbasi should be barred from taking part in politics for wasting court's time by filing politically motivated cases against PTI leadership. He added that Hanif Abbasi should be sent to jail for misleading the court through an affidavit bearing wrong information regarding Jehangir Khan Tareen's name in Panama Papers. "The logical end of this case should not confined to mere disposal of the case, but the petitioner must be tried for coming up with frivolous litigations and attempted to mislead the court and public for political gains," he added. Speaking about election law, Chaudhry said that PTI's legal team is reviewing the recently passed election law and will soon file a petition against it in Islamabad High Court.
Coming down hard upon the PML-N and PPP, he stated when all the parties have consensus that National Accountability Bureau law is not effective and hence needs amendments, why PML-N and PPP are adamant to appoint a NAB chairman. The PTI, he said, is reviewing the law and will come up with its own proposal and recommendations and present it before the Parliament and media for debate and public scrutiny, he maintained.
Taking a jibe at the ECP, he said that ECP efficaciously reinstated Nawaz Sharif on party's head position within a span of 24 hours but the reference sent by Speaker NA against Ayesha Gulalai is still pending in the ECP. He added that PTI strongly condemns this discriminatory approach and demands ECP to immediately de-notify Ayesha Gulalai and declare PTI's reserved seat vacant.
