Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo presides over a meeting held in PNSC board room on current issues of his ministry and its organisations, over an agenda of performance of each organisation, future plans of organisations, development projects (PSDP and self-financed), human resource issues, training facilities of all organisations and reorganisation of training institutions.
Chairman PNSC Arif Elahi, updated in briefing to the Federal Minister Mir Hasil Bizenjo and State Minister Jafer Iqbal, for maritime affairs, about the matters related to Pakistan National Shipping Corporation ie PNSC's performance, future plans, development projects.
He thankfully, appreciated the efforts of Federal Minister over the current taxation status of duties and taxes till 2020 as custom duty zero percent, sales tax zero percent, withholding of income tax zero percent and tonnage tax (at $1 / GRT). Arif Elahi added that these efforts will benefit the entire maritime sector in Pakistan as the benefits are not restricted to PNSC alone.
Chairman PNSC highlighted the achievements of PNSC in direct expense, lubricant, bunker and dry docking. Group fleet direct expenses reduced by over $500,000, bunkering costs reduced by over $4,500,000, dry docking costs reduced by over $1,200,000 million. He also briefed about management of changes. The benefits of these changes have already started to become apparent through fiscal discipline, improved operational results.
The Chairman PNSC announced PSDP projects of land for Oil Storage construction at Gwadar, land acquisition for construction of marine workshop at Gwadar, oil storage construction at OIA Keamari, (Karachi) and Regional office of PNSC preferably inside Gwadar Port area.-PR
