Despite series of talks between the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and the participants of Karwan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat, the sit-in continued on the fifth consecutive day in the federal capital on Monday. The Karwan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat rally which was led by Dr Asif Ashraf Jalali started from Lahore and reached Islamabad on October 26 to stage protest against the changes made in the Finality of Prophethood declaration in election forms.
The officials of district administration have held a series of meetings with the participants of sit-in but failed to convince them to end the sit-in. The protesters on the sixth consecutive day remained stuck to their demands. The protesters have demanded the government to remove Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah from his position and a case be registered against him and Asia Bibi, an accused of blasphemy who is serving a term in prison.
They also demanded the government to keep an eye on activities of Ahmadis, sever its diplomatic relations with Myanmar till resolution of Rohingyas issue there and abolish ban on use of loudspeakers in mosques. Jalali urged his workers to start protest demonstration across the country to press the government to execute those who omitted the Finality of Prophethood declaration in Election Bill 2017.
A leader of the rally said that a delegation of participants of the Karwan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat rally will hold another round of talks with Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique. He also claimed the police have arrested dozens of their workers from the protest site and have also blocked supply of food and water to them.
The government has deployed heavy contingent of Islamabad Police, Punjab Police and Frontier Constabulary to prevent entry of protesters and miscreants in the Red Zone. The shipping containers have also been placed around the Diplomatic Enclave and other sensitive installations to prevent any mishap. The Metro Bus service has also been closed which has increased problems for commuters.
