Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has said that his party does not want any delay in forthcoming elections 2018, rather it demands early elections in the country. In a video message on Sunday, the PTI spokesman proposed that all the provincial assemblies and National Assembly should be dissolved after consultation with the stakeholders for holding early elections. He said if all stakeholders are on board then the PTI would also dissolve the KP Assembly, where it holds a majority. Fawad Chaudhry said that the PTI wants the delimitation bill to be discussed in the Council of Common Interests (CCI) before it is made a law.
In his video message, he said that the party would not accept any delay in the elections on the basis of the non-passing of the delimitation bill. He said that elections, not census, are the spirit of democracy. "The Constitutional (Amendment) Bill, 2017" for delimitation of constituencies and reallocation of National Assembly seats on the basis of provisional census results was put on the agenda items of the business of the lower house on Thursday and Friday last. But the bill was deferred due to lack of strength of government benches during the session and the strong opposition of (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) of it.
