Media experts and journalists while taking part in a series of panel discussions said that youth in Pakistan carry the potential to bring about a positive turn around in society; and that women journalists can play a significant role towards lending Pakistan a soft, progressive and modern outlook.
One-Day Youth in Media Conference 2017 organized by the students of University of Sindh at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium, Faculty of Arts, University of Sindh; which was presided over by VC-SU Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat. Dr Burfat in his presidential remarks said that he was extremely glad to see that varsity students independently launching a bold initiative like the media conference. He said he was also happy to see great majority of male and female students in attendance at the moot.
"I believe media students will be greatly benefiting from the experiences and insights that would be offered by the invited media experts during panel discussions; as the experts have served long stretches of time in the practical domain of media industry. I think the integration of practical acumen with theoretical base will lead to a very productive and meaningful dimension of knowledge for media students", he expressed.
Dr Burfat cited the book containing speech of Allama I.I. Kazi on the theme "Uho Ko Biyo Faham (Different is that Dimension of Thought)" and said that students should take recourse to that book as it contains erudite advice for social development. Dr Burfat said, "We must keep account of every minute we spend during 24 hours available to us. Life is very short; we must set our priorities, know our goals and work in a way that would bring prosperity to us as individuals, to our families and to society".
Earlier, senior journalists Sohail Sangi, Aajiz Jamali, Abdul Razzaque Sarohi, Mazhar Sethar, Sarvech Odho and others presented their deliberations in panel discussions. These panelists congratulated Mumtaz Jamali the conference host and called for drastic updates and reforms in media syllabi.
