Islamabad United Director Cricket Affairs Waqar Younis has warned that match-fixing could not be completely ruled out and said that collective efforts are required to eradicate this evil from the sports. Talking to media in Lahore, Waqar said match-fixing has damaged our cricket a lot and its roots are still very strong. He said he will guide young players to stay away from suspicious persons on and off the field. He maintained that players can prolong their careers by staying away from corruption in cricket.
Waqar also hoped that Pakistan Super League (PSL) will help revive international cricket in the country as more foreign stars will be in action in the third edition of the PSL. PSL-II final, World XI series and Sri Lanka's visit had already sent positive messages to the world, he said.
