Pakistan following the terrorist attack that resulted in loss of lives of two security personnel, urged Afghanistan on Tuesday to crackdown on terrorist outfits taking refuge on its soil and attacking Pakistani troops from across the border. "Pakistan has strongly condemned the cross-border terrorist attack at Pakistani check posts in Bajaur Agency on November 13 that resulted in the martyrdom of two Pakistani military personnel, Captain Junaid Hafeez and Sepoy Raham," said Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal.
He said Afghan Chargé d'Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a strong protest was lodged with the Afghan government over the incident. "Pakistan calls upon the government of Afghanistan to take immediate action against the terrorists and terrorist groups finding sanctuaries in Afghanistan to target Pakistani security forces. Strengthening the border management is critical to preventing such cross-border attacks," he added.
Dr Faisal further said that Pakistan has been witnessing a surge in terrorist attacks on its security forces deployed along the Pak-Afghan border who are engaged in strengthening border management, he said, adding these cross-border terrorist attacks on Pakistani forces confirm the presence of a large number of terrorists in the increasingly ungoverned spaces in Afghanistan. "The forces supporting these acts of terrorism against Pakistan, which have been allowed to use the Afghan soil, are a serious threat to peace and stability in Afghanistan, and the region," he warned, adding this was also demonstrated earlier this month when elements inimical to peace and security in the region had targeted and martyred a Pakistani diplomatic official in Jalalabad.
On November 13, the ISPR spokesperson said that Captain Junaid Hafeez and Sepoy Raham were martyred and four other soldiers injured in the attack on a border post of the Pakistan Army from across the border. "This is the price Pakistan is paying for security vacuum on Afghan side of the border. Pakistan has done its part; cleared all areas, fencing, new posts, enhanced presence along border and establishing of crossing points. More efforts are required on Afghanistan side by all stake holders," he underscored.
Pakistan has been urging the Afghan government for taking action against chief of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Mullah Fazalullah and other terrorists, including those of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) taking refuge on its soil and perpetrating terror attacks inside Pakistan and also attacking Pakistani security forces from across the border.
