Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed six eateries and discarded hundreds of kilograms of food items over adulteration and unhygienic arrangements during examining the quality of food in order to ensure the PFA food standards here on Thursday. Also, Rs 18,000 fine was imposed on four food points. One adulterated spices unit has been sealed in Jhang bazar, discarded over 3,000 kg of adulterated material.
Operation was held by PFA's watchdogs under the supervisions of Food Safety Officer in different districts of Faisalabad division including Toba Tak Singh, Chinnot and Jhang. During operation, food safety teams raided on hundreds of eateries and food production units (including restaurants, nan shops, milk shops, pan shops, hotels, confectioneries and bakeries) for examining the food quality of products and their ingredients which was being used for the preparation of food.
According to details, food safety teams have issued fine tickets of Rs 7,000 to Toba Restaurant, Rs 5,000 to Ibrahim Tawa Point, Rs 4,000 on Ahmed BBQ and Rs 2,000 to Al Makah Fish Point. PFA's raiding teams have also served warning notices to dozens of eateries during operation. PFA has also confiscated 120kg substandard sweets, 15.50kg non-food grade colour, 30kg poor quality sugar syrup, 61 liters rancid oil, 5 packs of expired snacks, 1,000 packs of guttka and other food items during raid, which were later discarded. PFA Spokesperson said that all premises were sealed on the account of selling poor food.
