Peshawarits have warmly responded to the desire of Bollywood legend Rashi Kapoor of visit the Jenum Boomi (birth place) of his father and grand-father and ready for according him red-carpet welcome to him. Rashi Kapoor, a scion of Kapoor family few days back has expressed anxiousness to visit Peshawar where his grand-father and father were used to live before the partition of the Sub-Continent.
Rashi's grand-father Prithvi Raj was Station House Officer (SHO) of Police in Peshawar when he quit the service and shifted to Mumbai (Bombay) to start his Bollywood career. His son Raj Kapoor and grand-children remained part of Bollywood and presently their fourth generation Ranbeer Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are the shinning-stars of the Indian film industry.
Talking to this scribe, Shakil Waheedullah Khan, chairman, Culture Heritage Council (CHC) welcomed the decision of Rashi Kapoor and said that they will do any such visit as it will go long way in the improvement of people to people and diplomatic relations between both countries. He said that two days back he had made telephonic contact with Rashi Kapoor's Secretary in Mumbai, who had confirmed his statement. He said that Rashi Kapoor's like stars of Bollywood have fans in both Pakistan and India and their visit can go long way in boosting relations between both countries. The visit, he said will leave positive impacts on relations of both countries.
Abdul Latif, a neighbour of the Kapoor's House in Peshawar city expressed happiness over the possible visit of Rashi Kapoor to his native house. He said that the house is in dilapidated conditions and asked the Kapoor family to repair the house. He also recalled the visit of Raj Kapoor to the city. Musharraf Ali, another resident of the locality said that the people of the area are anxiously waiting for the visit of Rashi Kapoor to accord him traditional Peshawari welcome.
Shashi Kapoor and Shami Kapoor, the two brothers of Rashi Kapoor have already visited the city and their native house and have received warm welcome from the people. The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had declared Kapoor House, as cultural heritage, but due to dispute over the present owner it had failed in initiating renovation work on it.
