Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal has said that the provincial police are like a child that they have fostered and pampered, but cannot question. While addressing the media in the city on Tuesday, Siyal spoke about the issue of removal of the provincial inspector general, saying they have written to the federal government regarding the matter.
However, he added, their letter has not been responded to yet. Moreover, Siyal said IG Sindh has not been deprived of any power and that the Sindh High Court did not show the complete picture of the matter. The minister further said he did not have the authority for transfers of police official and the Sindh government was implementing all orders sent by the court.
When asked about the knife attacks in Karachi, Siyal said the police did not book any innocent person in the cases. A few days back, the anti-terrorism court granted bail to Shahzad, who was arrested on suspicion of carrying out the knife attacks in the city. However, police told the court no evidence was found against the arrested suspect. About street crime in Karachi, Siyal said effective measures were being planned to rid the city of the menace.
