The leader of a 30-member high-level delegation of Chinese companies, Wang Yu, has given the assurance that the KCR project will benefit the Sindh province and also reduced the congestion of Karachiites. Speaking at a meeting with Sindh Minister for Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah to discuss the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), he said that the project is also building further ties and greater cooperation and strengthening the confidence between the two countries and Sindh province.
He expressed gratitude to the government of Sindh and its representatives who briefed the Chinese about their activities in the project-related programme. The minister transport and mass transit, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, on behalf of the government of Sindh offered full support, cooperation and facilities to the Chinese delegation and government at every level, and said that safety and security of the visiting friends is being ensured.
The minister said he hoped that the groundbreaking of the KCR project is being held on December 25, the birthday of the father of the nation. Mazhar Shah of the National Railway Authority (NRA), Ministry of Railway, Government of Pakistan, said that the federal government is extending all possible cooperation to the Sindh province in this matter and is taking keen interest.
He said that China has vast experience and expertise in the development and infrastructure, so the KCR and other project initiated in other province, including Sindh, would beneficial for the masses and cause the economic uplift of the areas as well. Secretary Transport and Mass Transit, Saeed Ahmed Awan, apprised the visitors of the progress, modalities and design, with particular reference to revival of the KCR project, which is included in CPEC. He said that various positive steps have been taken by the government of Sindh about the main issue.
He said that the main problem and issue was encroachment and provision of alternative places to the affected people to speed up the KCR project. He said that the Sindh CM, Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah attended the JCC meeting in Islamabad on this issue. The DG of Sindh's Mass Transit Authority, Muhammad Athar, and officials of both the Chinese and Sindh governments were also present.
