The technology is playing pivotal role in medical profession and the women empowerment, enabling them to have access to job opportunities, knowledge and ecosystem. This was stated by Dr. Umar Saif founding Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University (ITU) the Punjab and Advisor to the CM Punjab while addressing the launch ceremony of Fatima Jinnah Medical University's revamped and completely overhauled new website with new features, developed by PITB at FJMU here on Thursday.
He said that like PITB being the only institution in the Punjab province serving through technology, FJMU was also the only and exclusive women university producing female medical professionals. While addressing the faculty and the students Dr. Saif said that technology has made amazing progress in the medical field, which has made available the experiences of world's renowned physicians, surgeons and top ranking professionals just a click away. Free-lancing was another opportunity for the students of all disciplines including medical to contribute on websites around the world to empower themselves and earn significant amount while being at home, he added.
He said that the PITB has established a score of CM e-Rozgaar Centres at various educational institutions of the Punjab province, among them five were dedicated for females. Punjab Residency Program (PRP), a web-based induction system developed and implemented by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for placement of medical graduates at 27 different hospitals across the province of the Punjab received above 6,000 application and more than 2,500 medical graduates have been placed according to their merit, preference and data gathered during the admission system helps to identify different trends, he stated.
Dr. Saif said that it was a matter of privilege to assist FJMU, one of the most prestigious institutes of Pakistan with a remarkable history of excelling in community health services. He distributed prizes among the best performers. The Vice Chancellor of FJMU Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) MBBS, FCPS, FRCS, FACS, MCPS (HPE) presented a shield to Dr. Umar Saif as a token of appreciation.
