Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said that provision of the basic civic amenities to the citizens is their right and for this purpose, funds worth billions of rupees are being spent. He said this while chairing a meeting in Lahore to review the pace of work and development on the ongoing projects in the Lahore city.
During the meeting, the development works and completion of the projects were reviewed. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said that the historic city of Lahore is the heart of Pakistan and added that resources worth billions of rupees have been provided to beautify this city and to ensure immaculate state of cleanliness.
These resources are provided to arrange different facilities for the citizens because the provision of best facilities is their right. The concerned departments are required to perform this responsibility with utmost dedication and commitment so that the citizens could enjoy best facilities and services at their doorsteps, he added.
Shehbaz expressed his strong indignation over the non-implementation of the model devised for different aligned services attached with the development schemes and made it clear that now the things will not happen like that as he is answerable to the people. He directed to work day and night to provide best facilities to the people and the results should be obvious.
He said that he has always provided administrative support to the departments and it is their responsibility to give results. "I shall not tolerate any delay with regard to the provision of different facilities to the people and the officers failing to perform shall be sent packing home.
Now, lame excuses or leniency won't work and everybody will have to perform and show results," he said, adding: "The departments should proactively perform so that best of the best services could be provided to the people. An effective and feasible plan should be designed and presented within next few days." Ramzan Siddique Bhatti MPA, Lord Mayor Lahore Mubasher Javed, Deputy Mayor Ijaz Hafeez, DG LDA, DC Lahore, CEO LESCO, MD Lahore Waste Management Company and concerned officials attended the meeting.
