The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) have grabbed the All-Pakistan Gold Cup Hockey Championship after defeating the Port Qasim Karachi team by 3-2 in the final held at Sadiqabad on Monday. In this tournament, the hockey teams of SNGPL, Port Qasim, Pakistan Steels, Sadiq Abad Hockey, Rahim Yar Khan and other teams had participated. Large number of hockey fans from Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan and other adjoining towns had thronged the stadium to witness this interesting All-Pakistan Hockey final.
The Punjab Minister for Special Education, Muhammad Shafiq was a chief guest on the concluding day of the match and awarded trophy and awards. The Minister while appreciating the keen interest of the SNGPL administration in the promotion of hockey in the country said that before winning the All-Pakistan Sona Cup Hockey Tournament this time, their team had also won the All-Pakistan Azadi Cup Tournament during 2016 which clearly indicate the calibre and outstanding performance of the Sui Gas team players in hockey.
