The Karachi Port handled 286,360 tonnes of cargo comprising 216,327 tonnes of import cargo and 70,033 tonnes of export cargo including 3,961 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 216,327 tonnes comprised of 63,609 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,338 tonnes of general cargo; 68,491 tonnes of bulk cargo: 48,248 tonnes of coal; 7,476 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 12,271 tonnes of fertilizer and 78,889 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 70,033 tonnes comprised of 66,133 tonnes of containerised cargo; 700 tonnes of general cargo and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,961 containers comprising of 1,175 containers import and 2,786 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 428 of 20's and 224 of 40's loaded while 27 of 20's and 136 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 354 of 20's and 299 of 40's loaded containers while 258 of 20's and 788 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were fourteen ships namely APL Austria, Al Farahidi, CMA CGM Georgia, APL Hawaii, Prosper, UAFL Zanzibar, FOMC P Eagle, MT Karachi, Green Belt, Fairchem Sword, Al Mahboobah, Baltic Cove, Clipper Target and Balaban carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were thirteen vessels viz. X-Press Makalu, Hamburg Bay, Kota Lahir, Libra, CMA CGM Georgia, Prosper, Green Belt, BW Amazon, MT Lahore, Geum Gang, Xing Rong Hai, Kapta Mathios and Da ji carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely X-Press Makalu, Hamburg Bay, Geum Gang and Vindonissa carrying containers, oil Tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday.
There were three vessels CMA CGM Tosca, Northern Dependant and Ten Yoshi Maru carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Monday, while six vessels viz. OOCL California, Hyundai Brave, MOL Endowment, Densa Alligator, Intrepid Republic and Bow Riyad carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 242,083 tonnes comprising 201,670 tonnes of import cargo and 40,413 tonnes of export cargo including 4,550 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 201,670 tonnes includes 147,750 tonnes of LNG; 5,033 tonnes of palm oil; 2,850 tonnes of chemical and 46,037 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 40,413 tonnes includes 40,413 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,550 containers comprising of 2,423 containers import and 2,127 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely CV Cape Mayor and CV Ivy Galaxy carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two ships namely MT Gaslog Greece and MT Alpine Penelope carrying LNG and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, clinker, canola seeds, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as seven ships namely CV MSC Gina, CV Express Makalu, MV Intrepid Republic, MT Maria-III, MT Thomson Gas, MT Quetta and MT United Banner carrying containers, canola seeds, clinker, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Gina, CV Express Makalu and MV Intrepid Republic carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.
