Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Niculaie Goia and Mihai Stefan Dinu, Minister Counsellor-Head of the Economic Section, visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to discuss ways and means to increase bilateral trade between Romania and Pakistan on Tuesday.
Addressing the members of the SCCI, he said that collective efforts are direly needed for the promotion of two-way trade between the two countries. He said that Business community of Pakistan should focus attention on exploring Romanian market and introduce their products, adding that Romanian market would be highly profitable for Pakistani business community.
He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would definitely open new area of development and prosperity not only for Pakistan but also for the whole region. The Ambassador further stated that Pakistan is a peaceful country and rendering huge scarifies against terrorism and world should recognize the scarifies of Pakistan.
The Ambassador added that both the countries were enjoying highly cordial relations and these ties would further strengthen with the passage of time. In his welcome address, President SCCI Zahid Latif Malik said that both sides should work for developing greater trade linkages in fields of information technology, defence production and number of other sectors.
Both countries can learn and benefit from sharing of experiences and best practices in the respective fields, he said. The SCCI President further stated that both countries jointly work for exploiting potentials of two way trade which had not exploited yet.
Zahid stressed the need for taking drastic steps to increase bilateral trade as presently total trade volume between the two countries is only USD 100 million, which is quite disappointing especially because the potential is immense which has not been exploited.
The SCCI President further stated that both Romania and Pakistan are on the path to forging stronger trading ties and suggest some measures for the expansion of trade between the two countries. He said that access of Made in Pakistan products to Romania should be ensured as the Leather Goods, Surgical Instruments, Work Wear and Gloves, and Sports Goods & Apparel, Footwear and Cutlery Instruments have huge demands in Romanian market.
