A high level Indonesian delegation headed by Alwi Shihab, Special Envoy of Indonesian President for Middle East and OIC, along with his top ten representatives met Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. The special Envoy, while discussing matters of shared interest and enhancing mutual collaboration in diverse fields, praised the Chief Minister and Government of Punjab for their generous hospitality and rapid development in the province.
The delegation even proposed to establish an under consideration Indonesia-Pakistan friendship tower in Lahore that will be a milestone and further deepen the brotherly ties. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need for enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
He said the exchange of delegations between the two countries would foster bilateral economic ties. He highlighted that Pakistan has overcome electricity crisis and has developed a model in which Pakistan will not see loadshedding ever again.
While mentioning CPEC, he said that it has produced tremendous opportunities of investment, attracting international investors from all around the globe to invest in Pakistan and Punjab. He ensured that Punjab government will assist and facilitate every project and vowed to boost cooperation with Indonesia in various fields.
Alwi Shihab stated that Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy cordial relations but there is still plenty of scope for enhancing and promoting bilateral trade, investment and joint ventures and to improve two way trades in many areas up to the actual potential.
He further added that the visit has been very productive in terms of exploring the vast potential investment opportunities and identifying prospective joint venture partners available in the province in fields of automobile, infrastructure and oil industry which will help to connect the business communities of two countries to encourage building up mutual linkages. He appreciated the efforts made by PBIT for arranging the Pakistan Indonesia Forum and for being a great support throughout their visit.
