Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday challenged his political opponents, saying that his party would win the 2018 election. The former president Asif Ali Zardari and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were addressing a mammoth crowd at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in connection with the 10th death anniversary of first woman prime minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto.
He described Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan an 'RO leader'. In his speech, Zardari said the party would not side with backstabbers in coming elections. He said that the late Benazir faced dictatorial forces with great courage. The PPP co-chairman said that he along with Bilawal is pushing ahead the agenda that the late Benazir had pursued. Zardari said that Bilawal is the son of the nation and that the daughters of PPP workers are like his own daughters.
The PPP leader hailed politics of founder of the party Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by saying that "there are going to be many leaders like Zardari but Bhutto is going to be the constant that the party would have". Zardari said that no one would tolerate double standards in the country from now on.
Referring directly to the ruling party's gripe, Zardari said they had issues with the PPP for a long time. "This time we will not support you [Nawaz Sharif], as time and again you have stabbed us in the back," he asserted. He said the conspiracies were still being hatched against the PPP. "I will be cautious in running the party and will do politics for betterment of the masses," he added.
A large number of leaders and workers of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) attended the PPP public meeting at Garhi Khuda Baksh to visit the last abode of the first Muslim woman elected as Prime Minister to pay respects. Earlier, the convoys of the leaders and workers from Punjab and other provinces reached Larkana to attend the death anniversary of their martyred leader.
