Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said the city should be clean. Removal of garbage was responsibility of local bodies, however KMC encourage and welcome such endeavours that are aimed at making Karachi clean. Garbage backlog in the city was removed with the cooperation of Bahria Town and work in district central was completed and now operation in district Korangi being started.
He expressed these views in a meeting with the four-member delegation of Chinese Sanitation Company Kangjie Sanitation Pvt. Limited which met Mayor Karachi in his office on Monday and discussed with him cleanliness in the city. Those who attended the meeting include chairman of DMC Korangi Nayyar Raza, chairman of DMC Central Rehan Hashmi, chairman of DMC East Moeed Anwer, Advisor to Mayor Karachi Farhat Khan, Director Coordination Masood Alam, Director Technical S.M Shukaib and other officers.
Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said that Karachi is one of the few biggest cities of the world where over 12,000 tons of garbage generates daily and in order to remove this waste the city needs highly professional and modern approach with committed team and infrastructure. He said we want to see all districts of Karachi to be cleaned and made free of encroachments.
While giving a detailed presentation on the Chinese company's working in Karachi and future planning, they said that Kangjie Sanitation Group is a large sanitation enterprise with State Grade A Qualifications of Sanitation and Road Cleaning. It provides professional urban and rural road cleaning and municipal solid waste collection, transportation and disposal, and urban-rural-integrated sanitation services. Kangjie has up to now successively taken over 400 Sanitation Projects in 18 provinces (such as Shandong, Anhui, Hebei, Jiangsu, Henan and others) in more than 80 cities in China.
