Supreme Court on Tuesday turned down the bail applications of former Information Minister Sindh and PPP leader Sharjeel Memon and two others. The three are accused of committing corruption to the tune of multibillion rupees in awarding government advertisements at exorbitant rates.
Dismissing the bail applications, a three-member bench led by Justice Sardar Asif Saeed Khan Khosa said that Sharjeel Memon is already arrested so he can apply for post-arrest bail in the Sindh High Court. Soon after the apex court revoked pre-arrest bails of Midas Advertising's Inam Akbar and former Information Director Yousuf Kaboro, the National Accountability Bureau apprehended both the accused in the matter.
Meanwhile, granting leave to appeal to former Managing Director of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Basharat Mirza and former Chief Executive Officer of Jamshoro Joint Venture Ltd (JJVL) Iqbal Z Ahmed, the bench issued notices to the NAB and sought reply from the Bureau in a week.
