The Karachi Port handled 184,499 tonnes of cargo comprising 144,211 tonnes of import cargo and 40,288 tonnes of export cargo including 8,371 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 144,211 tonnes comprised of 57,322 tonnes of containerised cargo; 28,507 tonnes of general cargo; 182 tonnes of steel scrap and 58,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,288 tonnes comprised of 40,288 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 8,371 containers comprising of 4,260 containers import and 4,111 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,366 of 20's and 1,285 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 162 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,079 of 20's and 411 of 40's loaded containers while 436 of 20's and 887 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely Tubul, Prosper, Triton Volk and Pan Ivy carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Sima Genesis, YM Orchid, Hyundai Courage, MSC Maria Laura, Kota Kamil, Bum Shin and Common Spirit carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Hyundai Courage, Kota Kamil and Bum Shin carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Sima Genesis and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. Wide India and Maliakos carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while eight vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, MOL Eminence, GSL Tianjin, MT Quetta, Osprey-1, Alam Sayang, Ellie Lady and Glovis Safety carrying containers, oil tanker, coke, mogas and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 113,458 tonnes comprising 90,704 tonnes of import cargo and 22,754 tonnes of export cargo including 3,115 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 90,704 tonnes includes 30,000 tonnes of furnace oil, 11,000 tonnes of palm oil; 100 tonnes of bitumen; 11,338 tonnes of canola seeds and 43,985 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,754 tonnes includes; 1,835 tonnes of rice and 20,919 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,115 containers comprising of 2,014 containers import and 1,101 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MT Al Khattiya carrying LPG sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Memphis and MT Epic Sardina carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Maersk Memphis, CV Alexandia, CV MSC Busan, MV Pan Oceans, MV Kirri Billi, MT Epic Sardina, MV Reem-3, MT White Purl, MT Al Khattiya, MT Glorious and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, bitumen, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely MV Alios Nicolas, MV Era-S, MV Kong Qeu Song, MV Reem-3, MV Fareast Honest, MT Gas Amazon, MT Maria-III and MT Brizo carrying soyabean, rice, project cargo, bitumen, LPG and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessels viz. MV Era-S and MV Fareast Honest carrying containers, coal and rice respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Wednesday.
There were nine ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Prosper, MV Industrial Century, MV Kong Que Song, MV Forest Honest, MV Great-61, MT Ondo and MT Bahra carrying containers, project cargo, coal, steel, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV Maipo carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
