Prices of essential kitchen items have been witnessed a mixed trend during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that prices of few vegetables and fruits during this week witnessed a decline, while prices of chicken, eggs, meat, fish, milk and non perishable food items remained stable.
Live chicken was available at Rs 5,700 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 290 per kg, and egg prices in wholesale market remained stable at Rs 125 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 135-140 per dozen.
During the week under review, tomatoes prices further went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 50 per kg, onions' price remained stable at Rs 230 per 5kg and potatoes were available at Rs 150 per 5kg. In retail market, onion was being sold at Rs 55 per kg, tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg and potatoes at Rs 35 per kg.
The price of various quality of garlic remained stable as desi garlic was available at Rs 400 per 5kg and Quetta garlic at Rs 500 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100-140 per kg. Ginger price further came down from Rs 650 per 5kg to Rs 600 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 150 per kg. Local lemon was being sold at Rs 800 per 5kg against Rs 1,000 per 5kg while Chinese lemon was available at Rs 350 per 5kg against Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail were being sold at Rs 65-180 per kg against Rs 60-200 per kg respectively.
During the week under review, prices of the entire range of non-perishable kitchen items remained stable as best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses witnessed no change as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentils (Masoor) at Rs 110 per kg.
Spinach was being sold at Rs 150 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per one-kg bundle and mint was being sold at Rs 200 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 25 per half-kg bundle. Capsicum price went down from Rs 470 per 5kg to Rs 430 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 110 per kg; peas price remained stable at Rs 250 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 65 per kg; taro's (arvi) price remained stable at Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg; carrot price went down from Rs 170 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg; and price of a pack of 5kg radish remained stable at Rs 80 per pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20 per kg.
Okra price remained stable at Rs 800 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, price of ridge gourd (tori) went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 360 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 85 per kg against Rs 95 per kg. Cauliflower price further increased from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 45 per kg while cabbage price went down from Rs 140 per 5kg to Rs 120 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45 per kg.
Cucumber price went up from 160 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 45 per kg.
Price of apple gourd (tinda) remained stable at Rs 250 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg; pumpkin (maro kaddu) price went down from 430 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 110 per kg; bitter gourd (karela) price went further up from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 150 per kg.
Fruits' prices during this week remained stable as good quality banana was available at Rs 75 per dozen, normal quality banana was being sold in the range of Rs 50-60 per dozen and Indian banana at Rs 130 per dozen. Good quality guava was available at Rs 70 per kg and normal quality guava at Rs 50 per kg, pomegranate price remained Rs 130 per kg while Kandhari pomegranate was being sold at Rs 175 per kg. Various qualities of oranges were available in the range of Rs 80 to Rs 160 per dozen against Rs 70 to Rs 120 per dozen.
Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 100 per kg, Kala Kalu apple price went down from Rs 180 to Rs 150 per kg, golden apple was being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, ambari apple at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 80 per kg Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-250 per kg.
