In a latest twist to alleged secret marriage of party chairman Imran Khan with his spiritual guide from Pakpatan Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday officially confirmed that party supremo has just proposed to the lady and awaits her response. Bushra Bibi, 50, who had got separation from a senior customs official, citing spiritual reasons for the divorce, has been considered the spiritual guide of Imran Khan since 2015.
In a statement issued from PTI chairman secretariat, PTI said that Khan is yet to marry Bushra Bibi as she has sought some time to consult her family members before making any decision after PTI heartthrob proposed to her. If Bushra and her family would accept the proposal then Imran will himself announce it, until then it has been requested that the media should respect their privacy, especially Bushra as she is an honourable lady.
It all started after a local newspaper claimed over the weekend that Imran had tied the knot with a lady who she has been visiting quite often seeking spiritual guidance, for the third time. The report claimed that the marriage ceremony was held in Lahore on January 1 and was attended by the PTI chief's close aides including Awn Chaudhry, Naeemul Haque, Mufti Saeed, a British Pakistani businessman and Imran's personal friend Zulfi Bokhari.
Imran was repeatedly asked by the media to comment on the news but he preferred not to comment for some reasons. However, some PTI leaders in their individual capacity either rejected the news or termed it a purely 'private matter'.
According to the statement issued by the party, Bushra has "asked for time to make a final decision after consulting her family, including her children". "It is indeed sad to see this extremely private and sensitive matter be made the subject of erroneous story leading to all manner of public conjecture," the statement said, adding that it was "regrettable" that story was reported as it involves "a very private lady who is not in public life."
